It’s been raining here for about a week now, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. I’ve lost track. We’ve had a few breaks in the rain to allow us to go outside for walks and for me to snap a few photos. We’re settling into our new home quite comfortably although the unpacking continues. Our washer and dryer has not been installed yet so Stephen has taken our bundle of laundry to the laundromat in town several times now. Nor do we have our water softener installed yet, which has led to hand washing our dishes because we discovered hard water seems to leave a film on our dishes when going through the dishwasher, but doesn’t seem to have the same effect when hand washing them. I really don’t understand how my parents have gone 40 years without a dishwasher in their house. We seem to have an inordinate amount of dishes piling up after each meal because I have to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner for myself following the AIP diet unless I have leftovers I can rewarm, and then if I cook a breakfast or dinner that Stephen and Zoey can eat that I cannot (like pancakes, spaghetti, or burritos), that’s double the amount of dishes after one meal. I will be glad when we can use our dishwasher again.
We’ve had two frog visitors in our house so far. They were tiny–about the size of Zane’s hand. Thankfully no other critters so far. Last Sunday we got two, black barn cats, Lester and Solo. They are staying in the barn for a month until they learn this is their home, and then they will be free to roam and hunt mice.
Meanwhile life goes on. Zane and Zoey are learning to share a room. More on that in another post.
